It’s time to get on the water. Inflate your packraft, making sure to avoid sharp or rough surfaces. Assemble your paddle and carefully check that the metal connectors are securely locked in place. Then put on your life jacket: it is mandatory, even in good weather. For more details on how to inflate your packraft, please check the “Tutorial” tab.
Once everything is ready, walk gently into the water up to your knees before getting in. This helps prevent the packraft from rubbing against the stones and keeps it protected. You’ll start from a small cove, much quieter and more pleasant than a busy beach. It’s also a great spot to enjoy a swim before beginning your paddle. Once on board, head to the right, towards Menthon-Saint-Bernard.
Take the time to enjoy the landscape from the water. You’ll paddle along the shoreline, with the chance to explore a few small natural caves carved into the rock.
As you continue, you’ll pass La Rose beach, located around halfway along the route and ideal for a swimming break. Then continue paddling along the cliffs until you reach Menthon-Saint-Bernard. Along the way, you’ll see beautiful lakeside properties. These beaches are private, so please do not land there.
Finish your crossing by passing the Palace de Menthon. Your landing point is just after it, at the Menthon landing stage. Remember to always stay close to the shore, as packrafting is strictly prohibited in the middle of the lake.
