Description

After crossing numerous small islands and exploring the Loire’s wild side channels, it’s time to bring this first major navigation to a close.

You will arrive at Candes-Saint-Martin, a beautiful village located at the confluence of the Loire and the Vienne rivers. Here, you will paddle up the Vienne for a short distance, in a calmer and more intimate atmosphere, before landing. If the current is not too strong, feel free to paddle upstream on the Vienne and land directly at the campsite. Stay close to the riverbanks to make your progress easier and move against the current more efficiently.

This point marks the end of your navigation for the day. Take your time to get out of the water, enjoy the final moments along the river, and take in this iconic location—where two rivers meet.

If the Vienne’s current is too strong and it becomes difficult to reach the landing point, you can instead stop at the port of Candes-Saint-Martin.
