The Roc de Chère Nature Reserve
Description
The Roc de Chère Nature Reserve is a true natural gem nestled between Menthon-Saint-Bernard and Talloires, on the shores of Lake Annecy. This rocky headland is home to an exceptional diversity of wildlife and plant life, with limestone cliffs, forests, dry grasslands, and wetlands creating a unique landscape and spectacular viewpoints over the lake.
Established in 1977, it is the oldest nature reserve in Haute-Savoie. Thanks to its unique terrain and microclimate, the reserve is home to plant species typically found both in alpine environments and in southern France—a rare combination. Several viewpoints, including the Roc de Chère belvedere, offer some of the most stunning panoramic views of Lake Annecy while showcasing a remarkably well-preserved natural environment.
