Description

The Château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard, perched on a rocky promontory overlooking Lake Annecy, is one of the region’s most iconic landmarks. With its tall towers, elegant architecture, and breathtaking mountain views, it looks as though it has come straight out of a fairy tale.

The château has been home to the same family for over 1,000 years, making it one of the longest continuously inhabited castles in Europe. It is also closely linked to the legend of Saint Bernard of Menthon, who is believed to have been born here. According to local tradition, its fairy-tale appearance even inspired Walt Disney in the design of some of his animated castles. Blending history, legend, and spectacular scenery, the château offers a fascinating glimpse into Savoyard heritage.
